|
All our corsets are built onto a high quality heavyweight coutil base. We only ever use steel bones, these are of the highest quality and provide a much sturdier construction than plastic alternatives. All of our corsets are heavily biased toward historically accurate shapes, although our years of pattern cutting experience have allowed us to adapt them to the modern figure without loosing the period shaping and proportions. |
|
All our corsets are made to very high standards using a variety of methods depending on each corset’s specifications. Corset Care instructions DO NOT put your corset in the washing machine. This will damage it and rust the steel boning. Corsets can usually be dry cleaned. However, the dry cleaning process is not good for your garment and should only be done when absolutely necessary. This is especially true if there are hand crafted components to consider. We recommend airing corsets after each wear and occasionally freshening with a fabric freshening spray. Spray the corset vary sparingly and only on the inside. Do not spray the outside fabric, especially PVC and hand finished and crafted fabrics. Corsets should then be hung by the laces to dry thoroughly after spraying. The outside of the corset can be spot cleaned with a damp (not wet) sponge, but again, be very careful with crafted fabrics, as these can easily be damaged. Once completely dry corsets should be stored either hung by the laces or rolled and kept in a dry dark place. All new corsets need a certain amount wear before they mould to the shape of the wearers body. Over-tightening anew corset will cause damage to it. This can be avoided by tightening a new corset over time, do not try and lace the corset as tight as it will go the first time you put it on. Let it warm to your body and gradually tighten it over time. It may take 3 or 4 wears of the garment before it feels ready to fully tighten. Do not try to undo a corset busk without loosening the laces first, this can cause busks to break and puts unnatural strain on the fabric around the eyelets and busk. Our corsets are made to last under normal conditions, but we cannot be responsible for how individuals treat their garments. |
